SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICT (SAD)
Kevin and Jerry met with the lawyer. He has prior experience and is currently doing this on other lakes. A letter that will be mailed to Amboy Township. This is a FYI to notify them of attempt to pursue SAD for aquatic weed control on Lake Diane. The lawyer provided a petition form for aquatic weed control at Lake Diane that will need to be filled out by owners. Then a committee would be set up for the SAD project. This committee will have 1 or 2 board members but also Lake Diane property owners. Then this committee can start collecting petition signatures.
There will be public meetings to voice comments. This is for a period of 5 years – auto renewing after 2 public hearings at the sunset of the first 5 year term. There is also opportunity to cancel it. Required is at least 5O% of the land owners affected by SAD.
OLD BUSINESS
AQUATIC LIFE:
Mike Kroll confirmed he received the affidavits that were mailed last year. He is verifying to see if all signatures were received. Solitude is not aware of any change from EGLE for weed treatment spray for the 2026 year. Cheryl Remesik will continue the water testing in 2026. 2025 results will be received in March after state publishes it. Jerry will get the information for the permit for the Goose Egg round up.
PARKS:
Nothing to report
NEW BUSINESS:
Friends of LD contacted LDCA. Amboy Township Fire Department has ice rescue suits that are dry rotted. Friends is making a $500 donation to replace them and asked if we would consider matching their gift. Because this is Goodwill for a water rescue and we live on a lake, Jerry Agrusa made the following motion:
to match Friends contribution to the hyperthermia suit for the township of Woodbridge Fire Dept in the amount up to $500
Scott seconded it. All agreed and the motion was approved.
The Newsletter form and activity dates were discussed. Some dates are unconfirmed till we hear back from the Community who hosts events outside of the board.
Consumers Energy wants us to grant an easement across park for overhead wire run.
DMCI will bury lines to start Fiber Optic installation when weather permits.
LDCA next meeting will be on March 14th.
At 10:22, Jerry made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Al Vitous seconded. All agreed and the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully Submitted, Nancy Bell
